Layla, thanks for your comment! As far as a central place to find paint, one good source for North America is the National Green Pages: http://www.coopamerica.org/pubs/greenpages/. But, I'm not sure about worldwide. I imagine many of the companies listed will ship internationally.

Great post!!

I'm not so sure about vacuuming - probably depends on the vacuum cleaner - ours is a tad old and an hour or two the air is really bad after vacuuming! (even if the bag is new - so I'm slightly doubtful of this one - I mean, if the dust is settled down, leave it there, no? until it's really necessary to vacuum. probably depends on the continent too - I hear vacuuming every day is necessary in Australia due to spiders! but some people I know here in Slovenia may be a bit OCD about vacuuming, probably a moderate medium is best..) - or maybe I'm just a tad uhm, lol, lazy.. :)

Totally agree about the candles - I love 'em but the smell is sometimes really strong and they can use up air...

You're lucky if you can air adequatly, a neighbour's chimney brings smoke directly into my window.. :(

I'm a bit doubtful about the 'allergen protectors' too - do read up on them to see if they're not possibly even more chemical-laden & potentially iffy/dangerous than the mites!

Also finding low- or no-VOC paints may not be so easy where I live.. I wish there were a site with all this stuff.. (brands, comparisons.. worldwide.. Do you know of any?)
